
The items in blue reflect the modifications approved by the
membership at the December 11, 2007 Annual Meeting.
The Bylaws Committee was chaired by Ron Belbutowski and
included Jack Ross, Bob Thompson, and Ed Ronan.
Article I - NAME
The name of the group is the Tradition Gold Tee Golf
Association.
Article II - OBJECTIVES
The Tradition Gold Tee Golf Association (Gold Tees) is
formed and exists to:
1.
Stimulate friendship and sportsmanship among its members
while promoting an incentive toward having fun and improved
golf;
2.
Promote fellowship and friendly golf competition among
members, and;
3.
Provide the opportunity for the aging group of golfers to
participate in nine holes of golf in a group environment on a
weekly basis.
Article III - MEMBERSHIP
Members
Membership in Gold
Tees is available to any male who is at least 50 years of age.
While there is a cap on non-resident members at 25, there is no
cap on Tradition community property owners.
Membership in the Gold Tees shall be referred by a member and
presented to the Executive Committee for approval;
Acceptance of membership binds each member to observe the bylaws
and rules of Gold Tees as well as the rules and etiquette of
golf as
published
by the USGA;
Membership is for one year,
concurrent
with the Gold Tees fiscal year, running from January 1 through
December 31; and
Annual dues are payable at the beginning of each year and are
used to defer the costs of conducting the program.
Members must play a minimum of twelve weekly Gold Tee games
during the twelve previous months to be eligible to play in the
annual Gold Tee Tournaments
(Gold Tees Tournament and the Member/Spouse/Partner Tournament).
Member guests (MG)
are those who meet the requirements of full voting members
except that they are not paid up members of Tradition Golf Club.
These member guests will have next priority for tee times when
same are limited, provided they have signed up by Monday noon
preceding the weekly Wednesday game.
Failure of a member (M) or member guest (MG) to meet the
required number of annual regular games played, or a change in
their resident status or Tradition Golf Club membership, will
result in expiration of their status or change in status as
outlined above.
Guests are
welcome when tee times are available after members (M) and
member guests (MG) have been accommodated, provided they are
signed up by a member or member guest by Monday noon preceding
the weekly game. The same guest is expected to play in the same
foursome as the member who has invited him. The same guest is
welcome to play a maximum of six (6) times per year.
Guests:
Members are encouraged to bring their visiting family members or
guests to join play (as space allows). Guests must pay for
Hole-in-One insurance the first time they play.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee shall be composed
of five members
serving in elected positions. This includes: President,
Vice
President – Weekly Games,
Vice President – Tournaments,
Secretary, and Treasurer.
The Executive Committee will deal with membership issues,
scheduling conflicts, additional tee times, and other matters
requiring negotiations with the Tradition Golf Club (TGC)
management, in addition to disputed issues requiring an
Executive Committee ruling or presentation to the membership.
ARTICLE
V – ELECTION OF OFFICERS
The election of officers shall be by ballot at the annual
December meeting of the Gold Tees;
Members may submit their names to the posted list of candidates
no later than ten days before the annual meeting;
Upon tabulation of the ballots, the Executive Committee shall
post the results on the Gold Tees bulletin board;
and,
The elected officers will serve for a period of one year
beginning January 1.
ARTICLE
VI - OFFICERS DUTIES
The President shall:
-
Be Chairman of the Executive Committee;
-
Schedule and preside at all meetings of the Gold Tees membership
and the Executive Committee;
-
Coordinate the duties of all other officers;
-
Determine the requirements for chairman positions and make
necessary appointments;
and
-
Be primary liaison between the Gold Tees and the Tradition Golf
Club management.
The
Vice President Weekly Games shall:
-
Will
assume the President's duties when appropriate;
-
Handle weekly games, assign pairings and schedule member
tee-times.
The Vice President Tournaments shall:
The Secretary shall:
-
Record and maintain the minutes of all meetings as well as
maintain any important Gold Tees historical documents;
-
Handle all written communications for the Gold Tees;
-
Determine if a quorum is present for every Gold Tees meeting
where a vote is taken;
-
Maintain a current list of all members, including addresses
and telephone numbers;
-
Compute and maintain the Gold Tee member handicaps;
-
Be responsible for weekly and tournament photography; and
-
Coordinate weekly game activities.
The
Treasurer shall:
-
Develop an annual budget;
-
Be responsible for receiving, maintaining, and disbursing all
monies of the Gold Tees; and
-
Maintain a monthly accounting of Gold Tees finances and render a
financial report at the President's request.
ARTICLE
VII – MEETINGS AND GENERAL PROCEDURES
The Gold Tees annual meeting shall be held on a date designated
by the President between December 1 and December 15 each year.
Notification to the membership of the actual meeting date shall
be made at least 15 days prior to the meeting;
The President shall call a special meeting for any purpose
deemed appropriate or when petitioned in writing by five or more
members requesting such a meeting; and
A quorum at any meeting shall consist of 50 percent of the total
Gold Tees membership. Proxy votes via email or in writing shall
be allowed upon presentation of a ballot marked, signed and
dated from a member.
ARTICLE VIII – AMENDMENTS TO BYLAWS
These bylaws were established to provide an efficient
administration of Gold Tees. They serve as the basis for
understanding the duties of each officer and for establishing a
smooth transition during changes of leadership; and
The bylaws may be appended, repealed or supplemented by the
Executive Committee after approval of a majority vote of the
membership at a meeting held in accordance with the provisions
contained herein.
