TRADITION MEN’S GOLF CLUB

2018 TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

The tournament committee has made some changes to the individual events to ensure that everyone has a positive experience. In some cases the tournament has been changed entirely. All qualifiers have been eliminated, except for the Turkey shootout which is limited to twenty members.  As a result, some of the tournaments have been shortened, formats have been changed, and the dates for the events have been moved to dates that will present the golf course in its best light, while avoiding any conflict with golf course maintenance schedules, and other special activities. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tom Strasser or any other member of the tournament committee.

TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

2018 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

SUNDAY MAY 27, 2018

WEDNESDAY JULY 04, 2018

SUNDAY SEPT 02, 2018

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. Tournament details will be posted on the TMGC web site and a copy of all rules will be placed in the carts of each participant.

2. All ties for first place will be settled with a playoff, if possible. If a playoff is not possible, ties will be resolved using the back nine, back six, back three method before matching cards using handicap rating of holes (8, 11, 7, etc.).

3. Stroke play tournament finals that are tied will be decided by M.O.C. except for first place which will be decided by a playoff starting on Hole # 1 or 10.

4. Tee markers, not the plates, will be used for all tournaments. The course is to be set up with yardage differentials that are consistent with the score card distances or as close as possible. The Tradition Golf Club staff and the Tournament committee will review each event as we go forward.

5.  All stroke play tournament scores will be recorded as “T” tournament scores with the exception of the “Ringer” event.

6. Any regular Monday games played simultaneously with major tournaments shall be individual events if possible to ensure continuity.

7. Participants in any tournament (Member-Guest excluded) must have at least three (03) local scores appropriately entered in a USGA recognized handicap system and in accordance with TMGC by-laws. Any additional information must be provided prior to the start of any tournament and as requested by the tournament committee.

8. All members must have 15 rounds in to be eligible to compete in a tournament within the previous 12 months. The member, without the 15 rounds, can still play for the weekly prize. Players can be given a medical exception to participate from the tournament committee with approval from the officers of the club. New members must play once a month from date of joining the club, minimum of nine rounds, to be eligible for tournament play at the time of the event. After one year the new member will fall under the current by-law of 15 rounds prior to event. Tournament committee may use men’s club rounds to determine handicap for major tournaments.

9. Players must complete each hole with no “gimmies”. When a player in a tournament reaches a score of ten (10) on a hole, they may “pickup”, and that will be their “maximum” score (the exception is in the club championship where the player will have to finish hole and take whatever score is posted for the hole). The TMGC doesn’t play drops in tournaments, unless designated by the committee for a specific event. All mulch areas will be played in the following way: a player may lift the ball, clean the area where it was resting and then place the ball back in the area within six (6) inches. This relief is being provided without penalty.

10. White, gold and red tees will be used in all tournaments.

11.  All prizes will be awarded in cash. We will try to have food after some of the tournaments.
